Catch of the Day #027

Ryan Nienaber

The waters are still green off Struisbaai and catches have been slow. We expect more stable weather conditions and the seas to settle which should improve this.

Cape Point tuna traditionally starts appearing at the end of March - however catches of longfin tuna are happening so we are hoping for an early start to the second half of our tuna season.

Sole is highly regarded by chefs for its delicate buttery texture, easy filleting and mild flavour. This gives it a lot of versatility in the kitchen. Our sole is caught by local fishermen off the coast of Mossel Bay on the south east coast. Don't settle for imports when you can support local fishermen and reduce your environmental impact! Our dressed baby soles are simply prepared following the Fishwife's crispy crumbed soles recipe

Crayfish will elevate any dining experience and bring on some special ambiance. View my traditional family crayfish preparation in 59 seconds on Instragram.

Yours truly,
Ryan
